Hill Family Estate takes Merlot quite seriously, and we believe the Merlot grape has an elegance to offer that is different from Cabernet Sauvignon. The Beau Terre Vineyards are centerpieces for Doug Hill’s accumulated viticultural knowledge. From the row spacing to the trellising, the row direction and clones selected, everything has been carefully thought-out to give Merlot its best expression. The 2022 vintage is a brilliant demonstration of Merlot’s ability to deliver on the promise. Despite some hurdles during the growing season, we created a complex, luscious, well-balanced wine. You’ll find intense fruit on both the nose and the palate, with a full-bodied, smooth and balanced texture. Structured yet plush with dense ripe fruit, warm blackberry and allspice. This stunner finishes with silky, integrated tannins and the potential to age gracefully in the cellar.
The 2021 Merlot is filled with aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, toasted hazelnut and toffee. The palate is rich with lovely acidity in the center, allowing the rich flavors of raspberry and luxardo cherry to swell over the palate.

Carrying on the tradition, the 2022 Peake Ranch Grenache is sure to please. The nose is beautifully complex with rich black cherry and candied strawberries accented by sage, pepper, cinnamon and juniper. Crisp acidity cuts through the fine and abundant tannin allowing this wines flavors of plum.
